CURRENTS NEW MEDIA brings together the work of established and emerging new media artists from around the world for events that incorporate cutting-edge new media technology, visual arts, and community interaction. The festival introduces the public to new technology molded by artists into vehicles for expression and the communication of ideas – broadening the definition of 21st century art making and fostering a more expansive use of technology.

TAO Ya-Lun is a Taiwanese artist based in Taipei. The artist has been focusing on life in the era of information technology. "Time Panorama" encompass a riotous profusion of forms including video, sound, kinetic installations and manipulation of lights and shadows. His work brims with dialectical logic and philosophical reflection, intended to provoke viewers’ thoughts. Optical fibers and media technology have shortened the geographical distance between people, but they have also deprived us of direct experience of the real world and awareness of the physical body. The artist encourages viewers to explore the margin of self-consciousness and the utmost of philosophical reflection. Viewers experience the very moment when their consciousness is awakened by the flickering, ambiguous images.

The presentation of the exhibition "Your Chance Encounter" is made possible by the generous support of the Ministry of Culture, Republic of China (Taiwan), the Taiwan Academy and IDOLON STUDIO.
