Artist Chen Ching-Yao's solo exhibition "War and Art" has grandly opened at the Tagawa City Art Museum

Artist News

In his latest exhibition, "War and Art," Chen Ching-Yao offers a profound examination of the intricate relationship between war and contemporary Asia. By projecting the political tensions of various Asian countries onto the imagery of battle-ready anime girls, he presents a striking series of works that intertwine these characters with machine guns—inviting reflection on historical conflict, national identity, and personal selfhood.

The exhibition also features wartime records and historical materials that the artist referenced during his creative process, providing deeper insight into the conceptual underpinnings of the works. Through a multi-perspective lens, Chen reconsiders East Asian history and prompts viewers to reflect on modern society, culture, and notions of ethnicity.
