Liew En Lin
Liew En Lin, born in 1998, graduated with a Master’s degree from the Graduate Institute of Plastic Arts at Tainan National University of the Arts, possessing a deep background in contemporary art theory and practice. His creative footprint spans Taiwan, having held solo exhibitions at Pier-2 Young Gallery (Kaohsiung) and A Jian Space. His artistic performance has frequently earned professional acclaim, including being selected for the 2025 MIT Young Artist Discovery, receiving the SANCF Aesthetic Award, being honored with the Mr. Chen Chi-Chuan TNNUA Fine Arts Award. He is currently one of the most highly-watched emerging artists in the field.
Liew En Lin's landscape creations are not sketches of specific locations, but rather transformations of sensory fragments extracted from memory. These works document his process of preserving landscapes, allowing originally blurred visual impressions to become concrete and clear through color and brushstrokes. In terms of technique, he favors the slow drying process of oil painting. Compared to fast-drying acrylics or watercolors, oil paint provides more time for him to adjust the composition and maintain a dialogue with the work.
