About Fu Ning (傅寧)

Fu Ning (b. 1995) was born in Taoyuan, Taiwan. She received her master's degree in the Department of Fine Arts at Taipei National University of the Arts.Fu Ning's creative practice primarily revolves around image production, using images as the raw material for transformation. She predominantly focuses on images not created by herself, but rather received from the life experiences of other individuals. These images are often ordinary, not bearing witness to major historical events, much like scenes that exist in our daily lives. This creative process reflects contemporary experiences, where our lives and existence can be constantly visualised and archived through social media. It shapes our identity in a newly virtual reality, where everything is no longer purely virtual, regardless of the hierarchy of materiality.Fu was awarded the 2022 S-An Aesthetics Award, selection for the 2021 CTBC Painting Prize, nomination for the 9th Grand View Emerging Artist Award, selection for the 2021 Contemporary Art Prize, 13th and 15th finalist of Long Yen Art Prize, 2015 BSAA first prize.
