Cynthia Sah and Nicolas Bertoux

Cynthia Sah (b.1952) was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Japan and Taiwan. She has completed her studies with a degree at Bard College in New York and her Master’s degree at Teachers College, Columbia University. In 1979, she moved to Italy to learn and immerse herself in the art of carving and working with marble. Her works are present in numerous public and private collections worldwide. Some of these are in Taiwan at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, the Hualien Cultural Center, the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum of Fine Arts in Taichung; Museum of Fine Arts of Hong Kong; the Azuchi-cho Cultural Center in Japan; International Sculpture Park of Farum, Danmark; Stiching Utopa Foundation in Voorhout, Holland. She has received large commissions for hotels, real estate developers and art collectors in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, England and USA. She has been working with her partner and sculptor, Nicolas Bertoux since 1995, enhancing the artistic and technical strength in their collaborative public art projects.

Nicolas Bertoux (b.1952) was born in France, settled in Italy. He starts his career as interior architect and designer before dedicating himself totally to sculpture. His main goal is to integrate his sculptures in the environment, getting inspiration from surrounding space, its culture, history and nature of a designated location as site specific art work. His experience and knowledge in architecture, design and construction, allow him to work with developers, architects and designers to share a common language and mutual understanding. In 2000 he established himself in Seravezza, where, together with Cynthia Sah, he founded the Studio ARTCO, a creative laboratory for the realization of sculptures, and the ARKAD Foundation, for cultural exchange and exhibition space, mainly dedicated to sculpture. His monumental sculptures, public or private commissions, are located in Paris, Ronchamp, Saint Witz, and European Parliament of Strasbourg in France; Transportation Institute of Taipei, Fine Arts Museum of Kaohsiung, Cultural Center of Hsin Chu in Taiwan; Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chengdu in China; also in South Korea, Denmark, Italy, Mexico and more.
